Do Buddhists believe in God? By Nikhil Sablania

Yes. Oldest Buddhist text Digha Nikay says humans are souls of gods with less energy. Most of the talks of the Buddha is with celestial beings like Yakshas. When Buddha got enlightened, many Gods, including Brahma, came and asked him to speak the learned knowledge. Buddha is the teacher of Gods. Surely, the path of Nirvana is the path of one creator God. In the oldest Buddhist texts the supernatural powers Buddha had, makes him separate from other human beings and can be considered him as a god. Though, Buddha never claimed to be a god. But people used to call him, Bhagwato, or Bhagwan, which means God. Now the question is, can one worship him as a God. The answer is yes. But, he also said that one should enlightened yourself. So, the inner spritual power comes from within. And the Buddha has given eight paths, along with tenants of moral behaviours like, tenderness (Karuna), etc. to achieve the spritual goal.
